FAQ
Keepsake Jewellery has been around for a number of years; growing recently in popularity. I have years of experience and knowledge with working within this industry and creating thousands of stunning, high quality items for many clients.
I have chosen to transfer this knowledge and apply my skills to this new genre of keepsake inclusion items; ensuring the quality is as impeccible as my standards are high. Naturally, with this type of inclusion jewellery there are likely to be more questions raised regarding our process, how I work and additional PPE and protective measures I take to ensure I am fully protected whilst working with your samples and to ensure I am able to work with all samples provided, without discrimination.
I've compiled a list of commonly asked questions I received in my previous line of keepsake work, and added a few extras to try cover as many bases as I can. However, if you have more questions not covered here you can send me a message for a chat and I'll attempt to answer all questions as honestly as I possibly can and to the best of my ability and knowledge.

What happens after I've placed my order?Once your order is placed, I will then put together a simple collection kit to collect betwen 2.5 and 5ml of your sample in a 5ml collection vial. This is clearly labelled with your order number, name as shown on the order and any additional details (for in house purposes only), along with a short form to fill out that also contains the instructions you need to follow to return the vial safely back to me. Please make sure this form is filled out accurately, and it is clearly stated if the return address filled out is different to the shipping address provided on the order form returned to me.
-
What happens after I return my sample(s)When I have safely received your sample back, I will send an email confirming that I have received this back and the date from which your turnaround period begins. My turnaround period is currently 6 to 10 weeks, and will not begin until the date you receive this email from me (I would recommend adding cumwhatmaycwm@gmail.com to your safe senders list to ensure you receive this communication email from me). *Please note, the time taken to reach me may take longer if you have ordered from overseas.
-
How do I return my sample to you?The information to answer this question will also be available on the form contained within your collection kit, but just to reiterate, I would recommend following the below advice when returning to me. Return back to me in the same box you receive your vial within. Wrap in additional protective material - any spare bubble wrap/kitchen roll If returning in the original box with no additional packaging (such as a padded envelope), this can be returned as a large letter. I would recommend returning via special delivery to ensure it arrives as quickly as possible, as safely as possible and fully tracked. * Please note, all my packaging is discreet so don't worry if this is a surprise or you'd like it to be anonymous.

What communications will I receive? There are some automated emails you'll receive direct from the website, and one or two others that will come direct from me throughout your ordering and waiting process. The details of which and in order, can be found below. Confirmation of your order (this is an automated email from the website that is triggered as soon as your order is placed). This contains details of your order, the address for posting (but this will also be on the form sent with your vial). and details of what happens next. Confirmation your sample has arrived. This email comes direct from me, and is sent to the email address we have on your order; so please make sure this is correct. Also add my email (cumwhatmaycwm@gmail.com) to your safe senders list so that you receive this email when I send it, as this you will need to keep to hand as it contains information about your turnaround start date for your own records. Your order has been started. When your order has been preserved and processed and I am ready to turn it into jewellery, this email MAY be sent direct from me. I don't always have time to send this additional correspondance, but if I do I will be sure to let you know so you know roughly from this point, your wait will be 2 weeks approximately. Your order is complete and on its way. This email is sent direct from the website, and is triggered when I mark your order as fulfilled and add your tracking information. NOTE - This email may be sent up to a week in advance from the date your order is physically shipped, so please bear this in mind when you receive this one.

How long will my order take? This has been answered in a few of the other questions - but to answer in short, my turnaround period is 6 to 10 weeks. This only begins from the date you receive the email from me confirmating that your sample has arrived, not from the date your order was placed. Why 6 to 10 weeks? This would depend on what you've ordered - many jewellery items are custom and hand made for us and made to size requirements, so it takes time for me to receive your blanks to then turn into your finished jewellery. Order volume - during particularly busy periods, I may have lots of vials to process and preserve, and need time to work through these. Orders are preserved on a priority basis of when vials arrive - I won't be reorganising these based on when your order was placed. In short, to reduce your wait time, send back to me asap. It's just me, myself and Irene! I'm a one man band working alone, so where I've more to get through, wait times will be longer. I allow myself plenty of time to get through your orders so as not to compromise on quality. Id much rather send out products that meet my high standards than rush them through to reduce wait times.

Can I have an update on my order?Without sounding like an a**hole, in short - no. I try to make sure all the relevant emails along every step of the way are sent to notify you of an update when there is one to give. Inbetween this, or during the prolonged waiting bit, chances are your sample is sat in my freezer waiting to be preserved. Whilst it's sat in my freezer, there isn't an update to provide. I've noted all the updates you will receive along the way - if you contact me for an update inbetween this, it's likely I won't have time to reply or there won't be an update to give; so please don't waste your time or mine. First update - Confirmation your order has been placed successfully. Second upadate - Yay! Your sample is here. Also confirmation of the start of your turnaround date. Third update - I'm starting your order (granted, you MAY not receive this one, but I'll try my best). If you receive this one, your 2 - 3 week or so countdown to having your finished order in your hands is on. Fourth update - Your order is complete and is ready to be sent. This may be sent up to 7 days in advance, please remember this before contacting to ask where your order is.

What PPE do you wear to ensure you can safely handle these kind of samples?I appreciate why this question will be raised, and fully respect the need to as I understand the additional risks involved with this type of sample matter. I would typically wear basic PPE when handling resin as it is with it being a chemical; however I do take additional measures to ensure my safety, to prevent any cross contamination and to ensure everything is handled hygienically (lets just say you've reached this section from the 'no glove' TT video circulating! Grim). Below is a list all the PPE equipment worn by myself and measures I take to ensure everything is handled safely. Nitrile gloves (all cuts are covered with plasters underneath these gloves) Respirator mask Goggles where necessary (during the preservation process, for example) Disposable apron Biohazard disposable bins are used to dispose of all vials All vials are stored individually and frozen, securely fastened to ensure they stay fresh and no cross contamination can occur I work on one piece of jewellery at a time so no cross contamination can occur The preservation process kills anything that may be within the sample; bacteria and otherwise. This is then encased in resin - so the finished items are entirely harmless and entirely safe to wear. The only stipulation is to ensure aftercare steps are followed to preserve the integrity of the resin.
